Welcome to you chris, what a great entrance you have made with your pictures.

Just how close are you to the gorillas here?

      Thanks

      Hi Zooman,
Thanks for the welcome. I actually had a gorilla brush my leg as it went by. The big silverback got about 5 metres away and I was also rushed by a younger 'blackback'.It truely was magical. The best hour of my life.

Sounds amazing, maybe you could write a review for us?

Not counting the gorillas did you feel safe in Africa?

What an amazing trip that must've been! But I do have a question about seeing these wild gorillas in Uganda.

What is the age limit to go on the trip to see the gorillas? And is it safe and suitable for a family that might have a young child? I might be considering in the near-future to see these gorillas the same place that you wen to in Uganda.

From what I understand, you could be trekking/climbing mountains for up to five hours before you see the gorillas, so small children would be out, and I think I read a minimum age of 16 was required (although it might have been 18).

      :p

Hi. The age limit for Gorilla trekking is in fact 15 and yes you can trek through thick mountainous jungle for many hours to see them. I was lucky in 2008 in that they where right on the edge of the farmland.
The experience is definitely worth any hardship and Uganda is a fantastic country with a huge range of habitats. The people are very friendly which is a huge bonus and you can walk the streets which is often not possible in Kenya.
I have just returned from a trip to see Blue Whales off Mirissa, Sri Lanka. This is also a fantastic experience and another that I would recommend highly.
