This aquarium is one of several large buildings at the Toledo Zoo that were all built in the 1930's. WPA (Works Park Administration) projects that were constructed during the Great Depression and still stand in the 21st century. There is nothing remarkable at all about the aquarium, and it could use a renovation sooner than what is planned, but I always think that it appears to be very European and would fit in well at many zoos on that continent.

...except being 7 decades old! :D

Actually, with the column and the small bricks it has a vague look of a Roman city wall or something. Interesting building.

There are a number of structures at the Toledo Zoo (renovated carnivore house, aquarium, reptile house, etc) that would not look out of a place in a European zoo.:)
